OPI James Bond - Goldeneye

I am a bit late to the James Bond bandwagon, but I just had to show you this beauty. Goldeneye is a foil - but it is unique in its texture. It contains flakes of metal, which lay upon each other and give it a super shiny foil effect. It's very similar to OPI Simply Smashing from the Serena Williams collection - same texture, but SS is more of a tennis-ball green colour, where this is a very warm sunset gold. It's solid in 3 coats, the base is a whole lot more yellow than it seems on the nail - the metallic particles balance the color quite well. 

It did not look as nice as I wanted on my skin tone  but that not the fault of the polish. If it was a tiny bit less yellow, I might like it more. However, with impressive texture, application and a brilliant shiny finish, I would still wear it.

Winter neons - Sexy Bomb s37 again~

It's winter time! What do we do in winter? Wear neons, that's what!

This is an old favorite, a hot-pink neon foil polish. Solid in 2 coats, wearing 3 in photos with topcoat. Again, a little watery but the texture of the polish is perfect for the large brush. This is interesting: the new camera actually captures the neon contast between environment and polish as opposed to my old photos of this polish (could be seen here or here) where I had to touch it up in Photoshop.

It's absolutely blinding and the foil finish really makes it glow. My favorite hot pink!

Sparitual - Rusted Lux

This polish was an impulse purchase - they're pretty expensive too! The polish itself is metallic flakes/foil finish, a mix of orange and gold flakes in a dark red base. When on the nail, it gives the illusion of rust and leaves, such a beautiful fall color. This took about 3 coats, polish is a little runny, but that allows it to dry fast. I'm pretty surprised that the burgundy base lights up so nicely with the flakes, it's a pretty unique polish in my collection.

Airy holographic layering - Sexy Bomb s32 and Hits Hefesto

Today is an experiment in holographic layering - a milky base with pink foil particles as a base polish and a layer of HITS Hefesto on top. This came out very subtle. Between pink foil shining through and holographic, holo doesn't take the spotlight. However, it works nicely together as a combination. All I can say is I feel like a pretty princess!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Deep Blue Sea

Uh oh, excuse the flooded cuticle!

Deep Sea Blue is an interesting addition to my collection: it is a dusty blue subdued foil! I didn't think it would come out so metallic looking but it did and it reminds me of icicles. Very pretty!

I wore this for 3 days, no chips, barely tipwear. Dried fast, took 3 coats for full color to show up. It was a little less shiny before the topcoat, but topcoat fixed it completely. This color also reminded me of jeans...as in it is a metallic denim-colored foil. I honestly really like and you know the best part? It was so EASY to remove! No acetone, to foil method...just off it goes. And that is one of the best things a foil could do for me.

Nicole by OPI - Coral denominator

I don't usually buy NOPIs due to their price and the weird shaped bottle, but I just HAD to have this crazy looking coral duochrome foil! Coral Denominator is a Canadian exclusive, which makes me happy because we never get anything crazy up north. CD is very pretty, as it shifts from golden to coral, almost like a sunset.

I love this polish, but it's a little bit too cool for me and I wanted it to be more warm toned (the pink is more like mauve). Applies okay, but a little sheer, took me 3 coats to get it to show. Very metallic, pain in the butt to remove like a true foil. All in all, another duochrome to add to my collection!

Sexy Bomb s37 - more Korean polish!

This is the last Sexy bomb I have to review in full detail. 

S37 is my favorite of the bunch and it's FANTASTIC!

When I was browsing these, the SA told me I should get this color, even though I was hesitating. She had it on and for some reason I still didn't love it. S37 did not hit me until I put it on at home. This color is...get ready for this... a hot pink foil! It has metallic shimmer and the base is a neon pink that's blinding in the best of ways. When I wear s37, I feel like Barbie! The formula is fantastic and it dries very fast. Sexy Bomb uses a pretty wide brush, but it works very well for me and you just need 1-2 strokes to cover the nail entirely. Full opacity is at TWO coats. This polish lasts a while on me and slightly hard to remove (a true foil!)

Speaking of Korean hauls, I can't wait to visit the Face Shop in Vancouver again come this weekend. Get ready for more Korean and other asian goodies!

OPI Muppets Warm and Fozzie

Today, I got my hands on OPI Warm and Fozzie, from the Muppets 2011 holiday collection!

To be honest, I was not excited for the Muppets collection at all. I didn't really dig the topping glitters and it just didn't feel like something I needed to buy. However, after seeing them in PERSON they looked like little disco balls! I was almost tempted to buy all of the glitters when I settled just on Rainbow Connection, which is a rainbow hex glitter and Warm and Fozzie, a color I did not expect!

This is an interesting combination. It's a warm, golden brown foil, with golden and raspberry flecks mixed in. Warm and Fozzie is very reflective and was a pain in the butt to remove, a true foil! I continue to be impressed with the OPI foil formula, it's fast drying, glides on and best of all...looks fantastic in 2 coats!

This is one of the most unique takes on winter polishes I've seen yet...I should try this matte sometime.

Sexy Bomb s66

S66 is much more of a foil than the other Sexy Bombs. It's a green base with a LOT of light green shimmer.

On on the nail, it's a salad-green foil, very reflective and fresh! I've never seen a foil like this myself, so it was a welcome surprise.  Most of the color is the foil shimmer, so application was good, but a little patchy due to larger particles. There is a TINY flash of light gold in this color, as seen on the pinky and more so in the bottle. Since this is a true foil, taking it off was a bit of a pain but I still love foils :D

Overall, I like this salad foil. It isn't a bright color but I like using it as a base for nail art.

Wet N Wild - Teal of Fortune

I'm not sure how long I've had ToF, it's been sitting untried for a while... I'm not into teals, but I really love the way it looked in the bottle! Sort of looks like fish scales or mermaids.

Here is what it looks like on me! (and a silver shatter fail)

Teal of fortune is a lot blue on me than it is in the bottle! It still reflects cyan and green, but it's predominantly ...blue. I did like the finish, but I didn't like the way it applied. ToF was a little liquid going on, but turned out okay after around 3 coats or so (you can see my nail beds in the pic still)

Application wasn't completely terrible for a 2$ polish however, so I am happy with the purchase.

OPI It's My Year

It's My Year is a part of the new Miss Universe collection, something that just hit the stores recently here in Canada! I was REALLY excited for IMY, as I missed my chance to get Rally Pretty Pink and this seems to be the same thing, just with a purple base instead of pink.

On the first glance, it's a shimmery dusty purple in the bottle with a bit of gold duocrome.

On the nail, it's got shiny, almost a mirror-like finish. IMY is a gold foil in a purple base, the gold REALLY shows in the light, but it looks more brown in the shadow. Indoors, the purple base comes through strongly and shimmer is visible. Applies VERY smooth, shows well in 2 coats, but I usually do 3 for full color payoff. I'm also wearing Seche Vite on top.

Outdoors, IMY is very reflective in the sun (I had issues photographing it, since it was reflecting my blue shirt too much) and every shimmer particle just glows from within.

This is probably my favorite foil I picked up this fall and I find it to be very fall-appropriate since it combines a subdued purple and a whole lotta bling to spice it up. It's a very fun color! I expected it to be more muted, but the color is more than enough. Love it!
