Tony Moly GS08 vs Revlon Whimsical

As I promised, I present to you a comparison between Tony Moly GS08 Milky Way and Revlon Whimsical (known as the DL Glitter in the Air dupe).

1st difference - I'm sad I didn't have a picture of the bottles handy, but Whimsical's base is a little bit more minty with a hint of green, while Milky Way is totally baby blue. However, it doesn't seem to matter, because the base colors both end up looking the same.

Milky way's base was thicker and it allowed for more color per coat, where Whimsical has more glitter in it per coat and the 'secret' mylar glitter pieces were more prevalent. The glitter looked better, brighter. However, this difference is VERY minute. 

They looked pretty much the same on my hands, index finger just looked a little bit more glittery, Otherwise, it's a great dupe with a bit less glitter.

OPI Yoga-ta get this blue vs OPI Ink

I really love the occasional dark blue/purple, so it's no surprise that I bought both OPI Ink and Yoga-ta get this blue.  Yoga-ta is an AMAZING dark shimmery blue which is subtle, yet striking. It was my first "venture away from pinks" polish I got years back when I was first getting into the world of nails. I felt really weird about wearing such a dark color and so BLUE, too! It remains one of my favorite dark blues to this day and I have not found anything quite like it. The base is dark blue and it's full of very smooth blue shimmer. The nails seem to glow with this polish on. Applies easy, takes about 2-3 coats to look great. Dries pretty shiny, but I'm wearing a coat of Seche Vite anyway.  

There is a negative point, however. Yoga-ta does stain, even if I am wearing a preventative basecoat and removal is staining as well. BUT! I did find that the blue staining can work to my advantage! I have yellowish nails from wearing dark polish and no matter how much I try to whiten them it doesn't always work. The blue staining from one day of wear under Seche Vite Clear basecoat actually acted as a blue toner acts on bleached hair to wash out the yellow and make it silver. It balanced out the yellowness of my nails and they were white!

So that is something interesting I learned today.

Opi ink is more purple in tone, but I suppose you can call it a "blurple". It has bigger shimmer particles, so it looks a bit chunkier without a topcoat. Ink has a pleasant balance between dark blue and purple and without Yoga-ta next to it, Ink would look blue on its own. It contains purple-blue subtle duochrome finish and applies and dries very nice

Both of these polishes are unique in their own ways, so I feel that owning both of them is great if you like darker blues. Yoga-ta is my favorite dark blue and Ink is a fun purple, but I like Yoga-ta the best because it's a very beautiful color with some sentimental value to me.

ELF Bubble gum Pink polish and comparisons

Bubble gum pink is a cool pink creme that I'm really fond of. It applies in 1 coat and dries very glossy, doesn't streak and looks nice on me. I did see tip wear after wearing it for one day, but this can probably fixed by wrapping your tips in topcoat. I took a few comparison shots to show you where it stands between OPI - Feelin Hot Hot Hot and Sally Hansen - I Pink I Can.

Seems that SH is warmer than the two and OPI is a more intense hot pink. 

Sexy bomb s62 Korean polish and comparison

S62 is a seawater blue-green base with lots of blue foil shimmer. Applies smoothly, it's a bit watery but that makes the really wide brush work, since it keeps flowing down the brush and you don't have to dip it in the bottle for the next nail. This is also sort of a foil, like many Sexy Bombs are. In the bottle, it shines purple on the edges a little, but on the nail it's a shimmering mermaid blue and I love it!

I also have Wet 'n Wild Teal of fortune in my stash and they look quite similar in the bottle. I did tape swatches and turns out WnW is much more green and has glass fleck, where Sexy Bomb has metallic shimmer.

ELF Innocent vs Nude comparison

I really wanted to try mannequin hands, so I ordered both Innocent and Nude from ELF to see which fits me better! It seems like Nude wins, but they are both very nice polishes, very cheap as well... Two dollars!

Both have great formula and apply very nicely.

Sexy Bomb S36 vs S40 comparison (lots of pics)

Another sexy bomb post! I have another pair of polishes very similar in the bottle and wanted to do a comparison. S36 is a cool pink with pink shimmer and S40 is a peach pink with violet and blue shimmer. Interestingly enough, they look more different in bottles than they do on the nail and I believe it's the S40's cool toned shimmer that does this. Both are a little disappointing compared to the other Sexy Bombs. I guess they are meant to be sheer jellies, but I wanted full-out color payoff. I kid you know, it took about 5-6 coats to get the color in the photographs and you can still see my nail beds. Application was very nice, but s36's brush was frayed and sort of "fluffy" which made application harder.

Sexy Bomb s32 vs s38

When I went on my mad Vancouver shopping spree for Sexy Bombs, I grabbed 2 very similar polishes, one was a milky pink and another was more of a peachy tone. Since they are so close to each other, I will be reviewing them together. They both contain pink metallic shimmer, and are both of similar opacity and application.  They also use the strange Sexy Bomb formula: runny yet opaque, sort of a creme with VERY fine metallic glitter, so it ends up being a subtle foily shimmer. They both apply like a dream and dry very fast. However, they do smell pretty strongly.
