Navy Stripes nail art

Horizontal stripes are my favorite thing to wear and now they're "in"! This means I get to stockpile stripey clothes like a boss. This also means I can give navy stripes a try on my nails! I used SH - Thinking of blue and the white nail art polish to do the stripes. The anchor was done with ORLY Luxe and a dotting tool. They turned out wider than I wanted, but I liked how vivid they looked. They sort of remind me of bees actually... it felt a little strange being distracted by my nails no matter what I did. Next time, I'm going to try making the stripes thinner, that should give it the look I really want.

On my right hand I did something simpler, but I ended up liking it better! Same base polish, tapes off a white stripe and ORLY Luxe dots in the middle.

What are your thoughts? Have you worn horizontal stripes yet this spring?

Dear RUS - 554 mood polish with Konad

I wanted to wear Dear Rus polish again... my nails are short so the color shift isn't as apparent, but I do love it so. I stamped flowers on it with ORLY Luxe and took a few photos of it changing colour! Keep in mind, this polish is matte, but I am wearing a topcoat over it. I want to wear this again when my nails are longer...
Without further ado, I present...mood polish spam!

Neutral

Cold
Hot
And for some reason, with a handful of Nerds candy!

I want more of these, maybe something pink and maybe grey!
What do you think of mood polishes in general? Like em or are they too gimmicky?

Revlon Whimsical over ORLY Frisky

I finally got my hands on Revlon Whimsical completely by accident. I actually saw the display and it wasn't there, I was so upset! I went digging around the discount bin and BAM. HERE IT IS. Along with Starry Pink, which got renamed to Popular!(bottle shots in this post) I decided to layer Whimsical over ORLY Frisky, since it really makes the blue glitter pop. Whimsical is very sheer, I kinda have to swirl the brush to pick up glitter and still had to use two coats. Whimsical is also a slightly more blue (and about 4 times cheaper) dupe for Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air.

It contains pink and blue hex glitter, tiny transparent glitter with a bright blue flash and smaller silver round glitter. The base is a slightly milky light blue jelly. The removal is fairly easy, which is a BIG plus for a glitter polish and it looks stunning on the nail. Wow, I am so glad to find it! I already want to layer it over everything...I think another jelly sandwich is in order.

Flowers and dots mani - pink and grey

right hand
left hand <3

I did more experimenting with the dotting tools! I tried making flowers, but went overboard with the dots...they turned out a bit wonky but I LOVE the way my left hand turned out with a single tiny flower.
Essie Chinchilly for grey and ORLY Cotton Candy for the pink.

What do you girls think? What else should I try with the dotting tools?

Kitty paws nail art! ORLY - cotton candy

I used the dotting tools I recently got to try making..KITTY PAWS! Oh man I think they turned out pretty well for the first time, but I do need more practice. I have a feeling I'll be doing more kitty paws in the future...
The base is ORLY cotton candy...I never realized how WARM that pink was. It's almost a nice nude-salmon on my skin, I really love it...it's so delicious! Reminds me of half an half guava and peaches...

What do you think? I don't own any cats but if I did, I'd be a total crazy cat lady...

ORLY gumdrop and polka dots

I absolutely love ORLY Gumdrop! It's a very bright retro teal-blue, a little bit more saturated and bluer than China Glaze - For Audrey. The polka dots remind me of 60s tablecloths and clothing prints... It was summer when I wore this and it fit the mood pretty well. I really like the way these dots came out. I forgot I did this mani and looking at it again made me itch for polka dots!

Reverse french/Ruffian manicure

I finally got my hands on some french manicure stickers by ORLY and tried doing a reverse french! I used WnW black creme as a base and ORLY Luxe as a secondary color.
This is making me feel very very sophisticated... Like I should be wearing an evening gown.

These ORLY stickers are odd, they are not paper but stretchy plastic and they stick very well. The pack comes with 52 of them, which is a satisfying amount...I suppose it amounts to 5 full manis with 2 strips left for mistakes. Instructions are to leave the stickers on after painting to allow the polish to dry, and they do not take polish with them when you take the stickers off! This is awesome, because when I use tape, I have to remove it immediately so it doesn't get left behind or tape some polish off with it. I'm really happy with these stickers and will be using them later to dry different things.

Gradient Leopard nails!

I got inspired when browsing tumblr and wanted to try my own breed of a colourful leopard manicure. It's just so psychedelic 80's neon and I needed some color in my life.

The gradient is China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy along with OPI - Feelin Hot Hot Hot. I used ORLY - Frisky for the rest of the nails along with OPI silver shatter.  I had the Konad leopard stamp and for once, it came in handy. I usually shy away from animal print but this was such a sassy idea, I simply could not resist. My only mistake is that I chose a pink that was too cold in its tone, so against ChG FFF's  neon orangeness' it looked almost...mauve? eww. Other than that little setback, this turned out great! I gotta try another leopard mani sometime.
